Management ReportingThe problemThe client had recently installed a new accounting system whose reporting facilities were, how do we say, obscure. To add to the problem, there had been a significant turnover in accounting staff, and management were not being kept up to date with financial information. The solutionDI Management were engaged to install a management reporting system that would provide accounting information in an acceptable format in a timely manner after the close of accounts each month. Designer's apology: This package was written at a time when I was experimenting with colors. Since then I've read Microsoft's standards and no longer use the hideous colours used here. The forms are displayed in grey-scale to protect my poor sense of style.
The Management Reporting System was designed to accept information directly from the trial balance output of the accounting system. It was written in Microsoft Access 2 and presented a series of menu screens to the user to enable them to prepare a variety of management reports.
